Nostr Compass 1.1 Brings the Newsletter and Podcast Together

Nostr Compass 1.1 puts the newsletter, podcast, and voice-note workspace in one native Android app. The reader now includes each issue's opening and closing paragraphs, with the latest signature-verified issue available from the main screen. Saved issues remain readable offline.

The podcast tab plays episodes from Compass's signed Nostr events and official RSS feed. It also shows the voice notes that contributors use to assemble an episode. A compact recorder stays at the bottom of the screen. Stopping a take shows its local save progress, then opens the saved recording for playback, editing, and sending. The app keeps the raw take for recovery if finalization is interrupted. Sending now accepts normal Blossom upload replies and retains its retry checkpoint after a network failure.

There are also 110 English topic guides available offline. Local search covers newsletter stories, topic guides, podcast descriptions and available transcripts, voice-note transcripts, and your saved recordings. The interface uses an AMOLED black theme and a simpler account header.

Amber handles signing without giving the app your private key. Background checks can notify you about new recordings, subject to Android scheduling and notification permission. Podcast transcripts appear in search only when a published transcript is available.
